HILLCREST

Hillcrest is the home of a large student population as the University of Waikato is here. It is situated on the east side of the Hamilton town Belt it hosts several local parks and gardens in its eastern side. It was given the name Hillcrest  by the Waikato County Council in the 1940s. Hillcrest is one among those suburbs that emerged when Hamilton was going through an extended growth and boundary expansion during the 1940s and 1950s.
