Get involved in the restoration of the Remnant Kahikatea Forest! The Jubilee Care Group meets on the second Saturday of each month from February to December (except public holiday weekends) to undertake various environmental tasks within the park.
Meeting point: ‘Settlement Centre’ car park at 9:00 am, Boundary Road, Claudelands, Hamilton. Follow the ‘Community Activity’ signs.
Join in the efforts to remove pest plants and invasive weeds from this vital remnant bush area in Hamilton City. This mixed podocarp forest of 5 hectares recently had tradescantia (Wandering Willie) weed covering the forest floor, hindering natural bush regeneration.
The group has been working on removing this weed and is down to the last remaining scatterings. Come along and contribute to this project, playing a positive role in the urban restoration of Hamilton City.
Additional activities may include planting around the forest edges (May – August).
